Who Has Your Attention?
We’re wrapped up in scrolling. We’re more focused on the highlight reels of our favorite influencers than we are coming under the influence of the One who has all history in His reels. We're not spending enough time in His Presence. We don't have enough focus or priority on His Presence.
When I say Presence, I’m not talking about an ethereal fog that moves into a room. I’m not talking about the electricity that some people claim to feel at a concert of their favorite performer. I’m talking about a real Person. His name is Jesus.
Jesus is a real, glorified Jewish man who lived on earth. He is the Son of God and is also the Son of David. He was crucified, buried in a tomb for three days, and then raised physically from the dead. God gave Him a glorified, eternal, spiritual body. And at this moment, that Person–Jesus–is seated at the right hand of God the Father. He’s praying, interceding, for us. Even though we don’t see Him, He is real. He has a voice. He has a shape. His eyes burn with fire.
Jesus is not merely an ideal or a conglomeration or a concentration of all the best human traits smashed together into some Marvel comic human superhero. We’re talking about God who became man–the God who knows every single one of us, knows our thoughts before we have them, knows how many hairs are on our heads, and at the very same time, holds together every atom in the entire universe that is expanding at 186,000 miles per second and is billions of light years in expanse. He holds it all together by His Word. That’s the One who is the Presence. And His very Presence changes people, situations, and even atmospheres.
The most pursued, valuable commodity in the universe is not gold or platinum. It’s your and my attention. Hell wants your attention. A billion advertisers want your attention. Your boss wants your attention. Your spouse and family want your attention. More importantly, God wants your attention.
If you would take the time to day to stop scrolling and start seeking the One who has all history in His reels, something incredible will happen. He will come. God doesn’t come where He’s tolerated. He comes where He’s wanted–where He’s celebrated. If you seek Him, His Presence–the Person of Jesus–will come and change your life because the Presence of God does what you and I can’t, and He does it in one moment. Give Him your focus. Give Him your attention. And watch what happens.
